So we will work with the variations as a whole to energetically turn off any that are keeping you imbalanced. To date only a fraction of the genetic footprint of thyroid function has been clarified. Variants in genes related to thyroid hormone synthesis, transport, and metabolism (e.g., DIO1, which encodes for deiodinase enzymes that convert T4 to T3) can affect hormone availability and action at the cellular level. Mutations in thyroid hormone receptor genes (THRα and THRβ) can lead to resistance to thyroid hormones. For example, certain TRβ mutations can cause generalized resistance, leading to symptoms of hypothyroidism despite normal serum hormone levels.

Pituitary – Genetic mutations in transcription factors such as PROP1 and PIT1 can lead to combined pituitary hormone deficiencies (CPHD), affecting the production of growth hormone (GH), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). Mutations in genes like AIP (aryl hydrocarbon receptor-interacting protein) are linked to familial isolated pituitary adenomas (FIPA). These mutations can predispose individuals to develop pituitary tumors that may affect hormone secretion.
